Ahmed Ahmad of Madagascar has been elected as the new CAF president,outvoting Issa Hayatou.
Ahmad collected 34 votes to 20 of Hayatou’s votes at the CAF Congress in Addis Ababa on Thursday. Hayatou has been in power since 1988 and was on going for the fourth term.
The 70 year old exit in the CAF presidency means that he will lose his FIFA position and his place on the body’s ruling council.
Ahmad ,54 becomes the seventh president in the governing body’s 60 year history.
